Levitra (vardenafil) works by relaxing the blood vessels to the penis so allowing
better blood flow and takes between 25 minutes to one hour although it can work
within 15 minutes. The action of Levitra is not generally affected by eating before
taking the treatment (except where the meal has a high fat content) or by drinking
alcohol, so men can eat or drink as they would normally before taking Levitra.
Levitra (vardenafil) works in most men no matter how long they have had
erection problems, how bad their problems are, how old they are or what
caused the problems.
When you take a Levitra (Vardenafil) tablet the following happens in your body:
- Levitra is a PDE-5 inhibitor it enters your bloodstream and flows through your body
- It inhibits the enzyme PDE-5 that attacks the chemical cGMP
- The chemical cGMP relaxes the artery walls in the penis, so blood can flow.
- The flowing of the blood through the penis causes erections.
- Your penis inflates with blood, and your are able to achieve a full erection
Levitra (vardenafil) should only be taken if prescribed by a registered doctor.
This is because Levitra can be dangerous if you take it at the same time as certain
other medicines including some that are used to treat chest pain (angina) of HIV
(ritonavir, indinavir). Also men aged over 75 years and taking, ketoconazole or
itraconazole (oral form) should not take Levitra. In addition, men with cardiac
disease of a severity where sex is inadvisable, unstable angina or angina occurring
during sexual intercourse, low blood pressure or men who have had a recent stroke
or heart attack should not take Levitra.
The usual starting dose for is Levitra 10mg. If 10mg
works for you but you experience side effects, then you might try
Levitra 5mg. If 10mg is not effective and side effects are not problematic
then Levitra 20mg dose should be tried after consultation
with your doctor or pharmacist. You should not take more than 20mg of Levitra a
day as this will not give a greater effect but does increase the risk of side effects
including severe back pain.
