The service is not suitable you if you are under the age of 18 or if you are pregnant or breast feeding. It is not suitable for you if you have a history of liver tumours, or severe liver impairment, have genital or breast cancer, severe arterial disease, undiagnosed vaginal bleeding or acute porphyria. The service will not be suitable for you if during pregnancy you suffered from jaundice, severe itching, or pemphigoid gestationis (a rare immune problem).
The treatment we provide is Norethisterone 5 mg tablets. One tablet should be taken three times a day. You should start to take the tablets three days prior to the expected start of your period and keep taking it until you wish your period to resume. A normal period should occur 2-3 days after you stop taking the tablets.
Please note that it is not advisable to suppress your period by more than 2 weeks using Norethisterone.
